St. Patrick's Day
In 1889 great-grandfather Laquedem came to America from the Old Country. He was in that age bracket which America considers old enough to be executed, but too young to be a congressman. He worked hard. Ten years later he had saved some money, and bought a ticket for his father, the Ancient Tailor, to come to America also. The Ancient Tailor came and lived the rest of his life as an honored guest in his house.
Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day. It's a great day to lift a glass and toast the luck of the Irish. It's also a great day to say "thank you" to the people who made it possible for you to be here.
I plan to lift a glass to the Irish, whose genes figure into part of my ancestry, but only after I thank Mom Laquedem for her part in making me possible.
No one truly does it alone. Thank someone. Then drink.
If you want some fun to go with your Irish beer, check out my Patrick and Grace Mystery, "In St. Patrick's Custody" at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1930252579/qid=1108327812/sr=2-3/ref=pd_ka_b_2_3/103-0198451-0120677
They even have their own website at http://crumbycapers.tripod.com . They think they're "real," so please don't spoil their fun and tell them otherwise.
Thanks, and the top o' the mornin' to all of you, too!
